Karma Kafe and Junkit is the go-to spot for delicious coffee and homemade treats. It also provides unique vintage finds and a view of the ocean from its patio.

6. Hiking on Change Islands

Hiking on Central Newfoundland’s Change Islands is a feast for the senses, with stunning landscapes, dramatic cliffs, and crystal-clear waters. While we missed the icebergs, the lush greenery and rugged coastline more than made up for it.

For the best views, head to the Squid Jiggers Trail. Wild cliffside scenery awaits you there, and panoramic sunsets create an unforgettable experience. The sun dipped below the horizon, its golden hues reflected on the water. This scene made for the perfect end to our adventure. Change Islands is a must-visit for those craving nature, tranquillity, and adventure!

7. Educational Visit to the Triton Sperm Whale Museum

The Triton Sperm Whale Museum in Central Newfoundland offers an intriguing exploration of the world of these majestic marine giants. While we didn’t see live whales, the exhibits provided incredible insights into their biology, behaviour, and conservation. Watching the meticulous preparation of whale skeletons for showing was educational and eye-opening.

This visit is a must for anyone interested in marine life. It offers a deeper appreciation for whale preservation and allows visitors to learn about the efforts to protect these incredible creatures.

8. Beachside Dining with Wild Island Kitchen

This was hands down my favourite dining experience! Crystal, the talented chef behind Wild Island Kitchen, delivered an unforgettable evening. The experience began with a foraging tour, where we learned about the land and its edible treasures. As an Indigenous woman, Crystal is passionate about sharing her knowledge. Making the experience more than just a meal. It was a journey into Newfoundland’s natural bounty.

Under her expert hands, a feast was prepared over an open fire using locally sourced ingredients. Dining on the beach at sunset, with the sound of the waves in the background, was pure magic. If you’re in Twillingate, hiring Wild Island Kitchen is essential for an extraordinary culinary adventure!
