  • Lansdowne Park: Casual outdoor skating when conditions allow.
  • Rideau Canal Skateway: Openings depend on weather — always worth checking before you go.

Holiday Walks & Light Displays

Downtown Ottawa shines after dark this time of year. Decorative lights, illuminated trees, and seasonal installations turn simple walks into memorable winter moments.

Local Arts & Culture

Holiday programming expands across the city during December. Keep an eye on Ottawa Little Theatre for A Sherlock Carol playing until dec 20th 2025.

Festive Shopping & Markets

Beyond Lansdowne, smaller holiday markets and pop-ups appear across Ottawa throughout December. Expect warm drinks, handmade goods, and that unmistakable holiday buzz — perfect for relaxed wandering between activities.

Weekend Tips

  • Dress for winter: layers, gloves, and proper boots make all the difference.
  • Many markets and displays run all month, so flexibility is your friend.
  • Book shows early — holiday performances tend to sell out fast.

Ottawa in December isn’t quiet — it just glows a little brighter after dark.
