Roland Bast in the Media

Roland Bast’s passion for photography has earned him recognition across the media landscape. His work has been featured in Canadian GeographicHOMME Magazine, and WestJet Magazine. He’s receiving multiple photography awards, including TMAC’s 2024 Photo of the Year and runner-up in their four-image category. Most recently, in April 2025, Roland was named one of Canada’s Top 30 Photographers and Influencers of the Year—a testament to his continued impact and creativity behind the lens. The accolades keep coming.

His work has appeared in Images in the New York Times and Toronto Star. The Wild Island Kitchen, NFLD, is the 2024 gold and silver medal recipient from TMAC.

Gold Medal Winner 2024

Roland won gold for the landscape photo of the year at the 2024 Travel Media Association of Canada Awards, which were held in St. Johns, Newfoundland.

Silver Medal Winner 2024

At the 2024 TMAC Awards in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Roland took home silver in the “Four Images Telling a Story” category. His captivating puffin images and a fitting title delivered an exceptional narrative that stood out.

Roland Bast takes great pride in receiving the Instagram “Photography Account of the Year” award. He earned this recognition through the support and votes of the people of Ottawa. It reflects his unwavering dedication and commitment, which is clear in every photograph he captures.

Roland assisted over 40 restaurants and small businesses. He provided free images and social media support. Additionally, he offered advertising on his platform.

During the peak of the 2019 pandemic, he used his photography skills. He also used his platform to showcase the resilience of Ottawa’s long-standing local businesses.
