Halifax Waterfront

The Halifax Waterfront, The New Wave, has always been a crucial part of Halifax. Nonetheless, it has experienced significant changes in the last decade, giving it a fresh look compared to my recollections. When I visited five years ago, I took pictures of certain piers that had been so extensively improved that I could hardly identify them.

Join me as I uncover the marvellous features of this lively and picturesque waterfront, from boat tours, art installations, pubs and fine restaurants to unique seating areas.

Seating areas

Seating areas have become a common sight for both tourists and locals. This group truly embraced the idea, and the results are precise. If you’re tired from walking, sit at one of the many spots along the 4 km wharf and take a break from everyday life events.

You’ll discover these seating areas at the end of piers, hidden behind hotels. Each restaurant offers a beautiful patio, adding to this lifestyle. It’s a feature you shouldn’t miss! We enjoyed using these spots and saw how the local communities appreciated them.

P.S. I try to maintain my photos’ authenticity by capturing them when these spaces are empty or not open for business.

Where to enjoy a culinary experience!

The Halifax waterfront has always been celebrated for its delicious food and cocktails, especially seafood. This remains true, and now there are even more delightful offerings to savour. Additionally, you’ll find a lively beer garden and some innovative new restaurants in the mix. It’s worth noting that Halifax has consistently been a trailblazer in the culinary world. Here are a few of the establishments we had the pleasure of exploring.

Our visit to The Bicycle Thief was particularly exciting and didn’t disappoint. We were treated to fresh ingredients, exceptional service, and a view everyone desires. It was indeed an outstanding experience. The B G beer garden also provided a fantastic afternoon for cocktails on their patio, complemented by that breathtaking view.

We had a relaxed afternoon, indulging in sushi and catching up with old friends, which added another layer to our culinary journey here on the waterfront.

Sunrise and Sunset

Another suggestion for enjoying the waterfront is the mesmerizing display of colours during sunrise and sunset. It’s one of my favourite times to capture the stunning cityscape. During the sunset, vibrant colours spread across the city, painting the skyline with shades of pink. On the other hand, during the sunrise, the sun emerges from the water, and during sunset, it sets behind Citadel Hill, casting its last-minute hues all over the city.

I hope you had as much fun at the Halifax Waterfront, The New Wave, as I did. Stay tuned; one more blog post is from my recent Halifax visit!
Until next time,
Roland
