The inn features spacious, modern, and impeccably maintained rooms. I especially loved the cozy ambiance and the refreshing stand-up shower—a perfect touch after a day of exploring. The friendly staff ensured I had all the details about the inn, including its spa facilities. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to indulge in a massage, but it’s definitely on my list for next time!

Another highlight is the included breakfast, which you can enjoy on the patio while soaking in the stunning waterfront views. It’s the perfect way to start the day in this picturesque destination.

2. Riva Restaurant: A Taste of Italy in the 1000 Islands

We discovered Riva Restaurant, just a short walk from our hotel. It is an elegant Italian eatery that promises an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment we arrived, I knew the evening would be unique. A bottle of exquisite Italian wine set the tone.

We began our meal with a classic favourite: escargot in garlic butter, accompanied by delightful homemade bread. This indulgent start set the stage for an exceptional culinary journey.

Before diving into the main courses, it’s worth taking a moment to appreciate Riva’s beautiful patio. Tucked beneath towering trees, it features a peaceful waterfall and a charming rock garden, creating a serene atmosphere. They also offer a front patio, perfect for open-air dining with a lively street-side view.

Now, onto the highlight of the night—the seafood pasta. Every bite was bursting with flavour, leaving us wanting more. We thought our dining experience had peaked. Still, our attentive server insisted we try their irresistible Crème Brûlée. One spoonful and we were in dessert heaven!

If you’re planning a visit to Riva, come hungry—this is a dining experience you won’t want to miss!

CityCruise: Exploring the 1000 Islands by Boat

We started our day with a scenic 3-hour CityCruise tour. We were eager to experience the breathtaking beauty of the 1000 Islands from the water. Although the weather was unpredictable—making an extra layer essential—it didn’t dampen our excitement for the adventure ahead.

As we cruised through the islands, I captured some stunning shots of the iconic Boldt Castle. The charming waterfront homes dot the landscape. Seeing the area from the water highlights its grandeur, offering a unique perspective you can’t get from land.

Beyond the incredible scenery, the tour offered many opportunities to admire local wildlife. You see elegant birds soaring overhead and boats gliding gracefully by. Visit the onboard canteen. You can warm up with a coffee there. Indulge in snacks and adult beverages while taking in the views.

After returning to shore, we continued exploring the city, energized and inspired by our journey through the islands.

Gananoque Inn and Spa: A Spectacular Sunset Dinner

The Gananoque Inn and Spa not only offers spacious, updated rooms. It also features a fantastic patio. This patio is the perfect spot for a picturesque sunset dinner. We dined as we watched the CityCruise boats gracefully arrive at the dock. This added to the charm of the evening.

While we were eating, I talked to the manager. He shared exciting news: the dining room is set for a renovation. The upgraded restaurant will deliver a phenomenal dining experience. Matching the beautifully refreshed rooms is a sign. I can’t wait to return and see the transformation!

Thousand Islands Playhouse: A Theatrical Delight

If you love local theatre with nationally recognized talent, visiting the Thousand Islands Playhouse is necessary. I was utterly drawn into an enthralling mystery featuring the legendary Sherlock Holmes, brought to Life with wit and suspense.

Beyond the incredible performances, the venue itself is a gem. With its stunning marina views, spacious patios, and a dedicated team, the Playhouse offers an experience beyond the stage.

The production was quick-witted and thoroughly entertaining—I found myself laughing throughout! During intermission, I wandered onto their newly expanded patio, which offers a serene and enchanting view of the River. It’s the perfect place to unwind and soak in the surroundings before the second act begins.

The Thousand Islands Playhouse offers an unforgettable evening of culture, charm, and captivating performances.

It was my first helicopter tour, but not my last. I’m already planning to return in the fall to witness the vibrant foliage from above.

Lavern’s Eatery: A Brunch to Remember

Before leaving Gananoque, we finally stopped at Lavern’s Eatery for a delicious brunch. This charming restaurant offers a creative, brunch-style menu with unique and flavourful options. I chose fried eggs, avocados, and bacon toast with tomato jam. It was delightful. The dish had a perfect balance of savoury and sweet.
